Jockey Jordan ChildsĀ has the chance to add another Group 2 win to his resume when he teams withĀ GanbareĀ at Flemington.
Childs has been in good form of lateĀ but had to make a tough decision on two talented horses from the Grahame BeggĀ stable that contested Group 2 races last weekend.
HeĀ scored on Passive AggressiveĀ in the Canterbury Stakes at Randwick but was forced to watch on as NonconformistĀ took out the Blamey Stakes at Flemington.
Unfortunately for Childs he could not be in two places at once.
“It was great to go up to Sydney and ride Passive Aggressive,” Childs said.
“I was always going to follow her, and it’s a pity Nonconformist had to run on the same day.
“HeĀ has been a good horse for me, but unfortunately, I couldn’t be in two places at once.”
Childs does a fair amount of the riding for the Gai WaterhouseĀ and Adrian BottĀ stable in Melbourne and has picked up the ride onĀ GanbareĀ for the trainers in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.
He partnered the Waterhouse and Bott-trained Soul Choice to win the Listed Strutt Stakes in Hobart last monthĀ while also riding winners for the stable at Pakenham and Ballarat in the past week.
Childs admits to not knowing a great deal aboutĀ Ganbare, but was happy to hear Waterhouse will be in Melbourne to watch the two-year-old race on Saturday.
GanbareĀ has raced three times, scoring a debut win over 1000m at Canberra in January before a midfield finish in the Inglis Millennium on February 11.
At his most recent start,Ā GanbareĀ finished eighth in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 25.
“I do a bit of work forĀ GaiĀ and Adrian atĀ Flemington,Ā and I canteredĀ him around on Monday morning,” Childs said.
“He’s a nice horse from what I got to feel of him, but it’s a tough race.”
