Racing NSW Steward, Damien Carr, has reported jockey Chad Lever fell approaching the home turn when riding Anticipate during race 5 at Scone today.
Chad was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital at Newcastle.
Update 8am 9/8/2017: Racing NSW’s Dr David Duckworth has reported Chad is now in the neuro ward with his fiance Claire Nutman by his side. Chad is doing better and is a lot more alert. A plastic surgeon is expected to see him today for the big gash above his eye. Chad still has soreness to his jaw and thumb which will be x-rayed today. He will be monitored after his concussion and may be transferred to a Sydney hospital in a day or so.
Update 9:30pm 8/8/2017: Racing NSW’s Dr David Duckworth reported Chad has concussion and a small bleed on his brain that just needs observation. Chad has a deep cut on his forehead that needs stitching. They are still waiting to see the neurosurgeon. Chad also has a painful jaw and thumb that needs X-rays tomorrow.
