Jason Collett claimed a record-equalling haul of four winners at Randwick

Jason Collett has overshadowed Hugh Bowman’s homecoming with a record-equalling haul of winners at Randwick.

The New Zealander opened Saturday’s meeting with a double and then saluted on two more occasions to match his success back home at tiny Dargaville, which hosts two meetings a year.

When Collett guided Siren’s Fury to her first metropolitan win he also eclipsed the 3-1/2 winners he recorded at Randwick in December 2015.

Potential Magic Millions 3YO Guineas contender Aqua D’ivina started Collett’s hot streak in the ATC Owners Benefit Card Handicap (1400m).

Futooh then won for the first time in the TAB Handicap (1200) before Buradoo claimed his first win at Randwick in Spinalcure Racing4Research Sprint (1000m).

Collett then booted his only favourite home as Siren’s Fury ($2.35) finally prevailed in her 10th metropolitan start in Sydney.

The Jason Coyle-trained four-year-old mare surged clear at the 100 to reward the perseverance of connections six runs into this preparation.

“It just looked the perfect race for her and as I worked round the bend she started to pick it up so I was pretty confident.”

Siren’s Fury held off Queen Misty ($6.50) by a neck, Tennessee Hussy ($11) was 2-1/4 lengths third.

Collett said he was positive about having a good day with a rare full book of nine rides.

“I don’t have nine very often, so I was kind of confident,” he said.

Coyle was delighted to see Siren’s Fury to finally tick off a metropolitan win.

“Her runs have been good this preparation and her last start (a third at Randwick last month) sort of put the writing on the wall,” he said.

Bowman returned to Australian racing for the first time since a stint in Japan and Hong Kong with one win on the Chris Waller-trained Fortensky from a book of eighth rides.
