Co-trainer Michael Kent Jnr has paid tribute to the exceptional racehorse, I’m Thunderstruck, who was sadly lost to racing due to post-surgery complications.
The charismatic, dual Group 1 winner, known for his striking looks and popular following, has been laid to rest at Kent Jnr’s property, fulfilling the co-trainer’s wish and that of the owners, given it was planned for the horse to retire there.
“We are just in the process of building a nice garden and memorial for him,” Kent Jnr revealed, who trained the galloper in collaboration with Mick Price.
“It’s a nice spot and we will plant a garden, some nice trees and a plaque. Once it’s all done nicely, we will have the owners out in the spring and toast a glass to him.”
The legacy of I’m Thunderstruck lives on, not only in the memories of his seven wins and earnings of more than $8.3 million across his 23-start career but also through his full brother, Struck Twice.
Owned by OTI Racing and trained by Price and Kent Jnr, Struck Twice earned his maiden win at Wodonga three weeks after the passing of his celebrated sibling.
