Champion jockey James McDonald is set to ride the formidable sprinter, Hawaii Five Oh, in the forthcoming $20 million The Everest, following Aquis’ selection of the horse for their coveted slot.
This decision comes after the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained runner demonstrated exceptional form, finishing swiftly in second place in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes, solidifying his credentials for The Everest.
Aquis secured Hawaii Five Oh after the unexpected scratching of Group 1 winner, Sunshine In Paris.
McDonald, initially slated to pilot last year’s winner Giga Kick, joined forces with the new contender after Giga Kick was ruled out of his Everest defence.
With three slots still open, the racing community keenly awaits further announcements from Chris Waller Racing, Coolmore, and Yulong Investments.
