Harry’s Yacht will attempt to extend his winning sequence to three when he steps out down the straight at Flemington.
Prepared at Flemington by Leon and Troy Corstens and Will Larkin, Harry’s Yacht has yet to race at his home track, but will look to make it three on the trot when he contests the TAB We’re On (1100m) on Saturday.
While Harry’s Angel may not have raced at Flemington, he is no stranger to the track having won five of his six jump-outs at the course.
Harry’s Yacht ended his last campaign with victory at Mornington in January on a good surface before returning from a break to score a comfortable all-the-way win at Moonee Valley on heavy ground on April 26.
That victory was over 1200m, and the gelding drops back to 1100m on Saturday, a trip he scored his maiden victory over as a two-year-old at Geelong last May.
Troy Corstens said maturity was against Harry’s Yacht during the spring, but the team has seen an improvement in the gelding’s behaviour this campaign.
He said the stable had always held Harry’s Yacht in high regard and that was vindicated by his success at The Valley last time out.
Corstens said the stable had gone about freshening Harry’s Yacht in the three weeks since his most recent outing.
“He went up to the farm for five days and since he’s been back, he’s done well and galloped well last Saturday morning,” Corstens said.
“We’ve always had a good opinion of him. I think he’s still very immature as he was just a kid last preparation, and I reckon the best is still to come from him.
“He gives me a really good feeling that horse.”
Jye Mcneil, who was aboard Harry’s Yacht for the first time at The Valley, retains the ride on Saturday.
