Not much is known of the ‘pet’ interest outside of horse racing that former boom apprentice Campbell Rawiller has.
But you will now.
He trains a few greyhounds on the side.
“I’ve got three in work right now, and they help to relieve the stress of race riding,” he said.
What he is most excited about is the future of one particular pup he has who is just 10 months old.
“I slip them up the Mornington straight a few times a week and they love it, but it’s the pup that I’m really keen on.
“Dad has purchased a share in him as has Nat Young and a couple of other jocks so the pressure is on.”
That pup, unnamed as yet, is still about 8 months away from racing.
He’s a big lump of a lad, is black and white, and the hopes and dreams everyone with an unraced animal have live on in the Rawiller clan.
Cam’s dad is leading NSW jockey, Nash Rawiller.
“Dad understands that I need a pressure release from horse racing and I love the dogs.”
