JRA Plate favourite Galizani will be examined by a Racing NSW veterinarian at Randwick on Saturday after missing a start last week.
Trainer John Thompson clarified with stewards on Friday that Galizani missed last week’s Chairman’s Handicap (2600m) after sustaining a minor injury to her off-foreleg in trackwork on the Thursday before the race.
The last-start Listed Epona Stakes winner has since been cleared by the stable’s vet but will also be examined by Racing NSW’s senior vet Dr Craig Suann upon her arrival at the track on Saturday.
Thompson reported that Galizani had worked strongly over 1600m on Tuesday and Thursday ahead of Saturday’s Listed 2000m JRA Plate for which she is the $2.90 TAB Sportsbet favourite.
The well-travelled Patinack Farm-owned mare won the Epona Stakes (1900m) by 1-3/4 lengths at Rosehill on March 26.
