Promising French import Carini is set for his second start in Australia at Flemington this weekend.
Trained by Cup winning trainer Danny O’Brien, the exciting International stayer has been nominated for the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup as well as the Cox Plate, Carini made an impressive Australian debut with a strong third-place finish at Caulfield.
“We’ve been very happy with him,” O’Brien told Racing.com.
“He’s been with us since about January of this year, we bought him at the end of last year and he’s settled in very well.
“We didn’t run him in the autumn but the only time we’ve run him in the spring there he was really good in a 1400-metre race, he’s trained on well and I think 1700m at Flemington is a really good setup for him second-up.”
This weekend, he’s taking on a longer 1700m race, building on his earlier eye-catching performance in a 1400m race this spring.
Carini joined O’Brien’s stable in January and has adapted well to his new environment.
