Promising three-year-old Sought After is set to continue his career in Australia, joining the Pakenham stable of Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman next week.
The Tivaci colt follows in the footsteps of Waikato Stud’s star galloper I Wish I Win, who recently retired after a remarkable career.
I Wish I Win, a two-time Group 1 winner, claimed the Golden Eagle and finished runner-up in The Everest, amassing over A$12.5 million in earnings.
While expectations are more modest for Sought After, he has shown plenty of promise, with two wins and a placing in six starts. His most recent result was a gallant fourth in The NZB Kiwi (1500m), despite an interrupted preparation.
“He will follow the same pathway and go over to Peter and Katherine for a bit, between Lance and I we looked at things and there’s not many options here in the immediate future,” Mark Chittick said. “All parties agreed that we would give him the opportunity over there and see whether he measures up.”
“We agreed to give him the opportunity over there and see how he measures up,” said Mark Chittick. A return to New Zealand for the Aotearoa Classic (1600m) next year is a possibility.
Sought After is a son of the Savabeel mare Popular, whose lineage includes the late Sacred Falls.
