Jockey Dean Yendall will only know whether he will require surgery on his injured neck after the results of further scans become available.
Either way, it is expected that Yendall will face a significant period of time away from riding as it has already been confirmed that he had sustained a fracture to his C3 in his neck after being involved in a fall from Saintly Rose at the Terang meeting on Monday.
The fall took place near the 100m mark during the running of the third race.
“He has a stable fracture of his C3 and as I understand it, they will probably do more scans there today to confirm that it is stable and does not require surgery,” Australian Jockeys’ Association chief executive Matt Hyland told Racing.com.
