Darci Be Good has shown staying promise with a gutsy win in the Listed Fernhill Handicap (1600m) at Randwick.Darci Be Good ($7) faced a strong challenge from Cocky Raider, but pulled away to win by a length and a quarter.
Cocky Raider ($4.20) finished second, with Darci Be Good’s stablemate Continental Flyer ($13) a further length third.
Trainer Bede Murray believes that the Darci Brahma colt could develop into a Derby contender as a three year old.
“He’s going straight for a spell,” Murray says.
“I think he could be a Derby horse, I really do.”
Jockey Luke Nolen agreed with Murray’s assessment.
“He’ll make a nice three year old, even into next autumn.”
