Talented sprinter Coolangatta is set to skip the upcoming spring season and instead focus on the $1 million Magic Millions Sprint at the Gold Coast in January.
Initially, there were considerations of heading to the US for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, but following a disappointing 11th-place finish in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, plans have changed.
“The performance was below par, there is no doubt about that, she didn’t fire.” Trainer David Eustace admitted.
Despite the unfavorable conditions due to heavy rain on race day, Coolangatta pulled up well.
She is expected to return to Australia at the beginning of August and will have a month off before assessing her readiness for future races.
Coolangatta, a $280,000 purchase at the Gold Coast Magic Millions, had previously triumphed in the 2YO Classic in 2022.
