Chynna Marston, a former jockey and a previous Sky Racing presenter, recently faced a significant ban from the racing industry. This setback emerged as a consequence of her involvement in multiple animal welfare violations. The racing authorities took decisive action, imposing a seven-year disqualification on Marston. This verdict was handed down after an extensive investigation conducted by Racing NSW into the maltreatment of thoroughbred racehorses under her and her partner, Alex Kean’s, care.
In addition to Marston’s disqualification, her partner, Alex Kean, also faced the repercussions of his involvement and was subjected to a six-year disqualification. Both bans took effect immediately upon their issuance.
This ruling effectively means that Chynna Marston will be unable to participate in any capacity within the racing industry until September 6, 2030. Meanwhile, Alex Kean’s disqualification will conclude a year earlier, on the same date. This development serves as a clear message regarding the importance of animal welfare and compliance within the racing industry, emphasising that such violations will not be tolerated.
