In this season of Christmas Gifting there is no better offer self-indulgence than the ATC Foundation’s open invitation for racing industry bodies and charities to request project grants.
With project related grants being funded up to $150,000 its the Australian Turf Club Foundation Chair Trish Egan who has applications closing on Thursday 23 December 2021, at 5.00pm.
“The Australian Turf Club is proud of the work it does for racing and local communities, and the ATC Foundation is one of the cornerstones of our engagement with people across NSW.’’
“The Foundation invites all registered charities and those involved in racing to make an application and we particularly look forward to quickly distributing donations’’ Ms Egan stated.
It is the fifth round of applications sought by the ATC Foundation since it was established in 2018, the role of ATC Foundation and an online application form for grants can be found online.
The Foundation raises funds through the sale of official Everest pins, Golden Eagle pins, on-course fundraising and saddle cloth auctions, as well as donations from ATC Members.
Again, this year a generous donation from Mr Bon Ho, the owner of 2021 TAB Everest runner Classique Legend was received, plus $50,000 from prizemoney earned from this year’s race.
Over $1 million has already been raised since 2018, and distributed by the Foundation to charities and racing participants across NSW, including communities around the Club’s racecourses.
Last year the Foundation was sincerely thankful to Boniface Ho in donating $300,000, or 5%, of his Classique Legend’s winning prizemoney with victory in $15m The Everest last October.
In distributing $14,000 to the Foodbank Food Relief in February and $30,000 to the Sony Foundation Children’s Camp in December, The ATC Foundation is definitely a tower of strength.
In distributing funds within one month, or even weeks $30,000 went to Dubbo drought relief, $20,000 to the Walgett water relief and $10,000 to the Aussie Helpers drought relief.
In October 2019, $30,000 went to the Tamworth Jockey Club, $20,000 each to National Jockeys Trust and The Shepherd Centre and even $13,651 to Canterbury Little Athletics Centre.
In addition, $10,000 each went to the Rainbow Club Australia and Youth Insearch Australian, plus $5,000 to The Jon Berne School, while investments were strong throughout 2020.
In March 2020 with $75,000 granted to drought relief, a 1000 hay bales were distributed to the Port Macquarie mid-north coast region, and additional hay drops in the Cobargo districts.
$25,000 went to Blaze Aid in the Port Macquarie district, Cobargo and Moruya, plus another $50,000 to Fawna for animal rescue, wildlife rehabilitation group and habitat restoration.
All grant funding applications need to be related specifically to strategic objectives of The ATC Foundation including not for profit organisations operating in the Racing Industry, Cancer Prevention, Mental Health, Disability and Sustainability.
All grant recipients must submit their application in confirmation of a registered charity with DGR Item 1 and TCC status, and have an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
Applicants need to provide Total Revenue at the end of last financial year and provide financial report for verification and which geographic destination does the charity service, ie, Randwick, Parramatta, Liverpool and Canterbury- Bankstown, plus additional criteria listed online
