New Zealand’s reigning champion two-year-old Velocious will go under the hammer in the Inglis Digital July (Late) Online Sale.
The Written Tycoon filly, who captured both the Karaka Millions and the Sistema Stakes last season, will be offered for sale by syndicator Go Racing and her New Zealand trainer Stephen Marsh following an unplaced performance during the Queensland Winter Carnival at Eagle Farm in June.
Velocious boasts a record of six wins from 13 starts, including three stakes victories as a juvenile. She is out of the Snitzel mare Parmalove and is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Penvose Lad, adding valuable pedigree credentials to her racing résumé.
Albert Bosma of Go Racing said Velocious has the physical and genetic profile to make a standout broodmare.
“She’s a good size, one of the things that surprised a lot of people as a two-year-old was that she wasn’t a little thing, she’s a really good-sized mare, good length, correct, she moves well. In terms of a type she’s really got it all,’’ Bosma said.
“Anybody that looks at her is going to be very impressed with what they see. It’s a pedigree that continues to move and one we think will keep improving.”
Velocious will be available for inspection at Vinery Stud starting Tuesday, with the Inglis Digital July (Late) Sale to take place from July 25 to 30.
