Canterbury Stakes not Newmarket Handicap for Shoals

Shoals will race in the Canterbury Stakes this weekend

Group One winning sprinter Shoals will race in Saturday’s Canterbury Stakes at Randwick and not in the Newmarket Handicap in Flemington.

Shoals was a dual acceptor for both Group One sprints but connections have opted to float the mare north to Sydney to race in the Canterbury Stakes which looks an easier assignment with the Newmarket Handicap down the straight at Flemington attracting a big quality field.

Shoals has not raced since a disappointing finish in The Everest where she was the heavily backed favourite.
