Group 1 placegetter Best Of Bordeaux has been scratched from the Golden Rose with trainer Kacy Fogden opting not to stretch the colt out in journey.
The Golden Slipper runner-up will instead tackle the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) on Saturday’s program, allowing regular rider James Mcdonald to stick with him.
McDonald had opted to ride Godolphin filly and $2.70 favourite In Secret in the $1 million feature, for which Best Of Bordeaux had been a $14 chance.
Meanwhile, a new rider will need to be found for the David Atkins-trained Promitto after Nash Rawiller was on Wednesday ruled out of the Golden Rose meeting to have surgery on his thumb.
“Jockey Nash Rawiller has informed Racing NSW stewards that he is unable to fulfill riding engagements at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday on medical advice,” Racing NSW stewards said in a statement.
“Mr Rawiller indicated to stewards he requires surgery on an injured thumb following an injury he suffered at the Rosehill Gardens meeting on 24 August 2022.”
Rawiller, who has missed the past two Saturdays due to suspension, had been booked for six rides in Sydney this weekend, including Queensland mare Palaisipan in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m).
He was also scheduled to travel to Melbourne on Sunday to partner Mo’unga in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) and Warning in a 1700m support race.
