Filly Rubi's Choice shows promise and keeps her mother's side success rolling.

Greg Eurell had already taken a fancy to the progeny of broodmare Redasun, but that fondness has taken another step after Rubi’s Choice won the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) for fillies at Caulfield.

Five of Redasun’s offspring have raced with three having been in Eurell’s care and all those ones being winners including this latest offering.

Rubi’s Choice ($26) won the event ¾-lengths over the Te Akau Racing-owned I Am Aria ($18) with Gin Twist ($16) a short-half-head away in third.

The twist, however, is that like Albibab who won the division for colts and geldings, Rubi’s Choice is not nominated for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 21.

Should the connections decide to stay involved in the main event with the daughter of Rubick, a $55,000 late entry fee has to be paid by this Tuesday.

“We had another two-year-old, Lincoln Square, who was a brother to this filly so it was the right decision to go back to Redasun again,” Eurell said.

“It is always tough to get a guide on these two-year-olds but what I liked with her is that she is so progressive and every time she has gone out she has been learning and progressed with it.

“She could not have led into this any better than she did and today I felt that she was super well so we thought we’d get a good guide on where she sits.”

Rubi’s Choice clocked a winning time of 58.38 seconds which was 0.32 seconds quicker than the colts ran 30 minutes earlier.

“We’ll see how she pulls up but we’ll likely go to the Blue Diamond Prelude and go from there,” Eurell added.

The Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) for fillies comes up at Caulfield on February 7.

Rubi’s Choice is rated a $15 chance in all-in markets for the Blue Diamond Stakes.

The highly anticipated debut of bookies favourite Angels Fury ($1.70) did not go to plan finishing last in the field of nine.

Jockey Ethan Brown said that the filly stumbled at the start and did not regain her confidence thereafter.
