Trainer Peter Moody has provided a clue to the long distance plans for champion mare Black Caviar during a guest appearance on Hong Kong television.

In town to prepare his other good mare, King’s Rose, for Sunday’s $A2 million Group One Champions Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin, Moody told local racing personality Apollo Ng he was looking forward to returning to Hong Kong in December.

Should he make the trip, he said, it would be with Black Caviar for the Group One Hong Kong Sprint.

“All being well, we hope to be back here,” Moody said.

While he was less than wholehearted when questioned later about the possibility of running Black Caviar at the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s gala international meeting, Moody didn’t rule out the prospect.

“We’ll just have to see,” he said.

“It’s a long way off, but it’s a race that’s there if we decide to go that way.”

Moody did, however, reject suggestions aired on Melbourne radio that he might be considering missing next week’s Goodwood Handicap in Adelaide with Black Caviar.

“She is running, I’ve always planned to use it as her her final gallop before going to England”

Black Caviar leaves for England later this month to run in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23.

King’s Rose, meanwhile, continues to please Moody in preparation for Sunday’s race which will determine whether she joins Black Caviar in England.

“She needs to run up to our expectations, and I’m hoping she will,” he said.
