Top trainer Mark Newnham produced a beautifully bred, and expensive 3YO filly at Warwick Farm today and she won.
MIRAVALLE (Redoute’s Choice-Condesaar), who was not even in the markets for the Gr 1 Flight Stakes over 1600m in October, came out and narrowly but impressively won her maiden race prompting TAB to get her into the markets.
Said Newnham, “Look, these midweek maidens are full of very well-bred horses and they don’t give them away.
“This filly is pretty good and I’m heading her towards the Flight Stakes and I think you’ll see once she gets to that sort of trip, she’ll relax better and will be an even better racehorse.”
Rachel King rode the filly today who cost $480,000 as a yearling.
She ran past the baby sister of Winx in Covent Garden, who was resuming from a spell and who did fight on well to finish 4th.
Covent Garden looked a bit fat and will improve a great dal following this run.
The eye-catcher of the race was runner-up YANGTZE RAPIDS (Frankel-Kahara River) who flashed down the outside coming from a rearward position off a slow tempo.
