Victorian entire Aysar will kick off his Ascot Pinnacles campaign in the Group 2 Lee-Steere Stakes (1400m) on November 5

Representing Ben and JD Hayes, the well-bred five-year-old has spent the past few weeks acclimatising in Perth ahead of his first-up assignment.

Bought for $260,000 by Shadwell Stud, Aysar headed west after finishing eighth to Cardinal Gem in the Weekend Hussler (1400m) at Caulfield two weeks ago.

Two starts earlier the flashy chestnut scored an overdue victory and his first black type success in the Chautauqua Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.

Aysar’s one length win over Enchanted Heart and Corner Pocket was his first triumph in close to two years, ending a run of outs stretching 723 days.

“He arrived early last week to ensure he settles in,” JD Hayes told The Races WA.

“It’s a big trip to come over and we wanted to be proactive to give him time to settle.

“He’ll run first up in the Group 2 race over 1400m (Lee Steere Stakes) Saturday week.

“From there he’ll either go to the Railway or Winterbottom, depending on how he goes.

“We can go back to 1200m or step him up to the mile where he did run second in a Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

“But he’s main target in Perth and this preparation is the Gold Rush over 1400m.”

Aysar has won three of 22 career starts, but his resume could have read a touch better following a series of minor placings in feature races.

After a second to Ole Kirk in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas he followed up with a hat trick of Group 3 placings at Flemington and Caulfield.

The Railway Stakes is run on November 19, the Winterbottom Stakes a week later and the Gold Rush December 10, with prizemoney of $1.5 million for each race.
