Brad Rawiller has produced a rails-hugging gem on Absolutely to win the Group 1 AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick.
Absolutely ($31) beat AJC Derby winner Shamrocker ($3.50) by three and a half lengths, with a further half length to Pinker Pinker ($8.50 in third).
Trainer Mick Kent only decided on Thursday to send Absolutely to Sydney, with the filly also entered for Flemington today.
“She’s a really nice filly, the only questions today were the trip and the ground,” Kent says.
“She handled those.”
Absolutely will now aim at the Caulfield Cup in the spring.
The Redoute’s Choice filly was still a maiden from six starts before her win at Group 1 level today.
