Japanese jockey Yuta Onodera can count his lucky stars after walking away uninjured from a spectactular fall during a jumps race in Japan.
Onodera was aboard Portolano in the maiden jumps race at Chukyo on Sunday when his mount swerved sharpy before one of the jumps, dislodging him as they hurtled towards the oncoming obstacle.
Onodera was sent flying as his body hit the obstacle, throwing him into a full backflip before landing firmly on his back.
Remarkably it’s been reported that both horse and jockey were uninjured in the incident.
