Right now we are all looking for some good news.
Particularly in horse racing, and especially today now that COVID-19 is being so rampant and disruptive, and well, also because sadly it looks like our genuine hero, Alligator Blood, has tested positive.
So here it is.
And no, I’m not going to let my rhetoric get too far out in front of me and declare things grander than they are.
You look at the replay. You make up your own mind.
All I will ask is – did we see a future racing star emerge at Doomben yesterday?
He is the perfectly named COMMAND’N’CONQUER (Warhead-Commanding Queen) and yesterday was just his 2nd start in a race.
He parked his massive, muscular body 4-wide from the get go, out of trouble presumably although anyone who backed him would have torn their tickets up at the half way mark, but then just exploded away once turned for home.
Yes, I know it was a lowly Open 3YO midweek race – but history tells us you just don’t do this at Doomben. Ever. Irrespective of the grade.
Watch the film and give me your thoughts below.
I thought this half-brother to 5 x winner and stakes placed CONQUERING LASS and who is trained by Steve Tregea at Toowoomba, was a shining beacon of hope and brightness for us all.
And the name. Wow, so appropriate right now as we as a collective find ways to battle the hidden enemy.
