Guests will flock to Flemington today as the racecourse comes alive for Crown Oaks Day, the ultimate style day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Fittingly on a raceday traditionally known as Ladies Day, international glamour sensation Kim Cattrall will be on course as a guest of Swisse. She will be joined in the Birdcage at 12.00pm by the stunning Mena Suvari, a guest of Lavazza.
In the 50th year of Myer Fashions on the Field, style will take centre stage as the prestigious competition reaches its peak with the Victorian finalist joining five interstate winners and the Online People’s Choice Award winner for the 2012 National Final.
Style inspirations from across the globe will judge aspiring women, including Chiara Passerini, the glamorous wife of Cadel Evans; VRC International Style Ambassador, Philip Treacy OBE; Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador, Alison Saville; Sass and Bide’s Heidi Middleton & Sarah-Jane Clarke; and Myer Ambassador Jennifer Hawkins.
The stakes will be as high on the lawn as on the track today with Myer Fashions on the Field participants competing for a Lexus IS 250C F Sport Convertible, a $6000 Myer Shopping Spree and a host of other phenomenal prizes.
The National Final of the 50 years of Myer Fashions on the Field competition will take place at 2:30pm.
Gates have just opened at Flemington with the first race scheduled for 12:20pm and the Group 1 Crown Oaks due to be run at 3:40pm where a prize pool of $1,005,000 is on offer.
Ahead of the feature race, music sensation Marina Prior will add to the celebrations with a magical performance in the Mounting Yard.
Victoria Racing Club Chief Executive Dale Monteith said racegoers would be treated to a day of world-class fashion and racing for the third day of the 2012 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
The official flower of Crown Oaks Day is a pink rose.
