Furious Stakes history and past winners

The Furious Stakes is a Group 2 horse race run over 1400 metres, for 3 year old fillies under set weight conditions. Taking place at Randwick Racecourse, this year’s edition is being run on Saturday the 8th of September, 2012. The Furious Stakes has been held since 1986, as a listed race until 1995, a Group 2 race between 1995 and 2004, and a Group 2 race ever since.

The Furious Stakes takes place on the same day as the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes, the Group 2 Concorde Stakes, and the Group 2 Tramway Quality Hcp. Some horses on the past winners list have managed to do the Silver Shadow Stakes and Furious Stakes double, including Samantha Miss in 2008, Mnemosyne in 2005, and Victory Vein in 2002.

Other horses throughout the years have won a different double, with the Tea Rose Stakes also won by Samantha Miss in 2008, Mnemosyne in 2005, Prisoner Of Love in 2004, Shamekha in 2003, and Victory Vein in 2002. A few horses have even managed to win the treble, such as Unworldly in 2000, Danglissa in 1999, and Sunline in 1998.

These double and treble winning horses are among the most famous, along with Streama in 2011, More Strawberries in 2010, Melito in 2009, Samantha Miss in 2008, and Angst in 1993. The 2011 race has taken out by Streama, a neck ahead of Florentina in second position and Detours in third.
