George Main Stakes day is one of the most anticipated events on the Sydney racing calendar, with this great spectacle of thoroughbred racing held this year on Saturday 21 September.

[include file=”inpost_adrotator.php”]

With Spring definitely in the air, George Main Stakes Day sees Group 1 racing return to Royal Randwick Racecourse after a traditional winter break. Many of Sydney’s best weight for age horses will be competing in the Group 1 George Main Stakes over 1600 metres, with a total of eight events held on the day.

Along with the George Main Stakes itself, punters can witness seven other races, including the 1100 metre Group 2 The Shorts, 2000 metre Hill Stakes, 1400 metre Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes, 1400 metre Bill Ritchie Handicap, 1100 metre Heritage Stakes, 1600 metre Benchmark 85 Handicap, and 1200 metre Benchmark 80 Handicap.

Each of these events will be held against the backdrop of the new Randwick grandstand, with a range of additional entertainment and dining options also available on the day.

Along with the racing itself, some of the other highlights of the day include the Go Racing For Real SMS Competition, Clinique Lounge, XXXX Gold Retreat, live entertainment, and a free bus service to The Star from 4.30pm.

There are a range of dining options available on the day, including the new Centennial Room on level three of the new Royal Randwick Grandstand. Other dining options include Deluxe Picnic Hampers, Bar Platters, and Centennial Terraces.

Gates open at Royal Randwick Racecourse from 11.00am, with the first race starting at 12.45pm and the last race held at 5.15pm. The cost for general admission is $20, with concession admission just $10. It is possible to pre-purchase tickets for George Main Stakes Day and save $5.
