The favourite Americain has eased in betting on the Melbourne Cup as money continues to come for Saturday’s Lexus Stakes winner Niwot.
Americain has drifted from $4.50 to $4.80 as concern grows about the firmness of the Flemington track.
The French star has also had to be re-plated after shifting a shoe on the way to the track.
Niwot, meanwhile, is in to single figures from $13 on race eve.
The Hawkes-trained runner is at $9 with most bookies on the course.
Among the others to attract money are English stayer Jukebox Jury who is in to $13 from $15 and the United States-bred Unusual Suspect who has tightened from $51 to $35.
