African Pulse is an early withdrawal from Caulfield on Saturday after cutting his leg.
The four-year-old was second favourite for the Listed Theshark.com.au Stakes (1100m) on the back of his impressive first-up win at Flemington.
However, trainer Mike Moroney told racing channel TVN African Pulse suffered a mishap that would sideline him indefinitely.
“Moroney confirms with TVN African Pulse badly cut his leg this morning requiring six stitches and he will be out of racing for a while,” TVN tweeted.
It is the second successive week African Pulse has been paid up for a race but not run.
He was scratched from the Carlyon Stakes at Moonee Valley last weekend after he drew wide.
In the absence of African Pulse, Golden Archer has firmed into $2.90 favouritism with TAB Sportsbet ahead of Freereturn at $5 and Platelet at $5.50.
