So Si Bon might have only won a maiden at Pakenham and despite taking on legitimate seasoned Group l horses the three year old has been the best backed early on to take out the Zipping Classic (2400m) this Saturday at Sandown.
The three year old comes through the Victoria Derby (2500m) where he ran a game fourth to Prized Icon. Normally that’s not the best form for a race like this but he does only carry 50.5kg and gets Craig Williams steering. He opened $5 and has firmed to $4.60.
Favourite for the race is Who Shot Thebarman, who was a brave fifth in the Melbourne Cup (3200m). He was $6 in all in markets but opened $2.90 final field and has eased slightly to $3.10. A couple of punters believe that the Kyneton Cup could be the main form reference with Tristram’s Sun into $81 after opening $101.
