Young Werther is the solid favourite for Saturday's Victoria Derby
Despite not racing for several weeks, Young Werther heads the Sportsbet.com.au market for the Victoria Derby (2500m) this Saturday at Flemington.
The Danny O’Brien trained three year old last raced in the Super Impose (1800m) back on October 3 and has been kept on ice for this race. He opened $3.50 when the final field/barrier draw was done and is solid enough at $3.60.
One of the key form references appears to be the Caulfield Classic, which was won by Albarado ($7). The firmer out of that race has been Hit The Shot, into $7 from $8.
Vase winner Cherry Tortoni opened $6.50 and got right down to $4.40 before settling at $5.
