Rosehill Monday February 23
Heat 1 – Open Trial 1030m (1.01.33)
I think Providence is humming for the Rosehill Guineas/Australian Derby. Tick over trial here following the first up crush at Wyong but gee he looked to truck here and had plenty in hand. He’s going to be a serious contender in those two races. Flying.
Heat 3 – Open Trial 900m (53.80)
Lovely piece of work from Caffe Florian. Real find during the Summer, she stretched out beautifully in this trial and loved the way she attacked the line. She’s right on track for a race like the Arrowfield, likewise Skyhook. He trialled super here as well.
Heat 4 – Open Trial 900m (54.03)
Generosity is FLYING. Gee she looks to be humming, I can only assume towards The Galaxy. Trucked in behind and was dead set jogging the last 75m-100m. Connections are desperate to get a major and I think The Galaxy is the race for her.
Heat 5 – 2YO Fillies Trial 900m (53.49)
Rachini looks an ideal Percy Sykes horse. Loved the way she went about her business in this trial, winning by a space, ran decent time and did it comfortably. Not nominated for the Slipper so you’d assume the Percy Sykes is the target race and off this trial, I’d say she’s going to be a real contender.
Heat 8 – 2YO C&G Trial 900m (53.42)
I think there is a sneaky horse here for the Champagne in the shape of Amazone for Chris Waller. Unraced colt, this was his first trial for the prep and while safely held, gee he charged to/through the line like a nice horse in what was a sharp trial. Dare say he’ll trial again before a debut, but I reckon he could be one for the Champagne, or even Brisbane. Nice horse.
Cranbourne Monday February 23
Heat 3 – Open Trial 800m (48.90)
My god Jimmysstar…how are they going to beat him this prep? He looks to be absolutely humming for the return in the William Reid. Did he beat much here? No, but he was going half paced and I actually think he is getting better with age. He’s ready to rock and roll this Autumn.
Scone Wednesday February 25
Heat 9 – Open Trial 900m (52.92)
Cantiamo won as she pleased, but my eyes were on Formal Display. First trial for the prep, gee he closed under an absolute hold by Nock and looked very sharp. Still got a relatively low rating, I think he’d be an ideal horse for Brisbane to go through the grades. Keen to follow him.
Caulfield Wednesday February 25
Heat 1 – Class 3-Open Trial 800m (46.24)
There is a Group l in King Zephyr…just a matter of where. Stradbroke maybe? But he is a very good horse for Beggy and I am convinced will take over from Magic Time as the best horse in his stable. He trialled super, closing very strongly alongside Magic Time. Keen to see how he progresses, maybe heading towards a race like the Victoria Handicap en route to Brisbane.
