Tabcorp gets green light for TAB Live rollout in Victoria ahead of World Cup

Tabcorp has secured regulatory approval to roll out its TAB Live product in Victoria, paving the way for in-venue, in-app live betting on sporting events.

The product, previously known as Tap In-Play, allows punters to place bets during events via their mobile devices, provided they are physically present in a TAB venue and activate the service by tapping their phone.

TAB Live was trialled across selected venues in New South Wales last year, with the initiative aimed at expanding digital wagering opportunities within licensed environments.

Following approval from Liquor and Gaming New South Wales for a broader rollout, Tabcorp also sought clearance from the Victorian Gaming and Casino Control Commission to introduce the product in Victoria.

The approval comes ahead of the upcoming World Cup, with Tabcorp targeting the global event as a key launch window for the service.

It is understood Tabcorp chief executive Gillon McLachlan met with the Victorian regulator in recent months to outline the case for approval and support the rollout strategy.
