Group One-winning filly Streama has been installed odds-on favourite to turn the tables on Sea Siren in Saturday’s Group Two Surround Stakes.
Streama was narrowly beaten into second by the John O’Shea-trained Sea Siren in the Group Two Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) first-up, but TAB Sportsbet had the filly as $1.80 favourite on Wednesday for the Surround over 1400m at the same track.
Sea Siren, who made the jump to stakes level in impressive fashion in the Light Fingers, is second favourite at $4.60.
Streama finished a close third over 1200m first-up in the spring in the Silver Shadow Stakes before going on to win the Furious Stakes (1400m), Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) and Group One Flight Stakes (1600m) at her next three starts.
A final field of nine was declared for the Surround on Wednesday with Streama coming up with barrier four.
Trainer Guy Walter has two runners with Darley-owned filly Appearance joining Streama.
Sea Siren will start from the outside barrier with Jim Cassidy aboard.
In the Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m), the resuming Somepin Anypin will be out to enhance his Doncaster Mile hopes.
The winner of the Liverpool City Cup is exempt from a ballot for the Group One Doncaster and Somepin Anypin has been installed the $2.50 favourite for Saturday’s race.
Neeson is second favourite at $4.60 and Ofcourseican is on the third line of betting at $6.50.
Both horses are not among Doncaster nominations and have different autumn carnival targets.
The feature race is the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes with Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker the early favourite.
The Chipping Norton attracted a field of nine but trainer Peter Moody reported to Racing NSW stewards on Wednesday that Mr Make Believe would be withdrawn on veterinary advice.
