Blue Diamond winner Star Witness has been backed to the exclusion of all other runners at Sportingbet Australia to win the Coolmore Stud Stakes following his scintillating work on Tuesday.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the Danny O’Brien trained colt had shortened from $4.00 to $3.80 following a sustained betting move in the high quality field.
“It looks an even race on paper with Pressday, Buffering, Soul, Sistine Angel and Soul all quality horses but they have only been interested in Star Witness so far,†Sullivan said.
“We took one bet of $20,000 at $4.00 as well as further bets of $5000, $3000 and $2000.
“He deserves to be favourite for the race with the step up to 1200m looking ideal and the fact he has won down the straight is an enormous plus and punters have stepped straight in.â€
Pressday is on the second line of betting with Sportingbet at $6.00 ahead of Soul At $6.50 and the Solar Charged and Buffering at $7.00.
