ROSEHILL

RACE ONE

Favourite backers got off to the worse possible start with Rotator going down as a heavily supported commodity in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1100 metres).

The Chris Waller runner was responsible for 70 percent of the total investment but after sitting behind the leader Enforcement, couldn’t peg back that horse down the straight.

Enforcement ($9-$11-$10) led throughout for Tommy Berry and Team Snowden as they knocked off the hot pot, with Intrepidacious ($15) winding up third.

BETS: Rotator $2,670 @ $1.75, $2,000 @ $1.65 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,300 @ $1.65, $2,000 @ $1.60 MULTIPLE TIMES

RACE TWO

It was a rough house affair in the TAB Highway Class 3 Plate (1500 metres) with roughie Upper House landing the prize.

Going around at $34 on TAB Fixed Odds, the Norm Gardner-trained runner was one of the least favoured runners in the race with only Boy Scout and Pinch Passion holding less.

Deanne Panya timed her run perfectly on Upper House which swept down the centre of the track to beat Zardoro ($12) and Onemore Sapphire ($15-$9).

Galapagos had been odds-on at the start of the day but blew out to $3.20 at the jump. He held just over half the total investment.

BETS: Galapagos $4,000 @ $3.20

RACE THREE

Passage Of Time led throughout to land some handy investments in the Events By ATC Handicap (1300 metres).

The Joe Pride runner was kept safe in betting and was $4-$4.40 throughout the day. Rated a treat by Sam Clipperton, the pair booted clear at the top of the straight to race clear and beat Asterius ($2.30) and Fragonard ($5-$5.50).

Asterius was easily the best backed in the race and held more than double the amount of money than any other runner. Fragonard was next best in that regard.

BETS: Passage Of Time $1,000 @ $4.40 TWICE, $1,000 x $2,000 e/w @ $4.40/$1.60

BETS: Asterius $3,061 @ $2.40, $3,000 @ $2.40 TWICE, $2,000 @ $2.40, $2,290 @ $2.30

BETS: Fragonard $7,000 @ $5

RACE FOUR

A late move for River Bird paid dividends in the #theraces Handicap (1200 metres).

The Jason Coyle runner was $12-$9 in the final few minutes of betting and finished off powerfully down the centre of the track to land the money.

Jenny Duggan timed her run perfectly to beat the very popular England ($4-$5.50), which came from back in the field, and Ljungberg ($5.50) which was close up in third.

Snow Valley went around as the popular elect with TAB customers, opening the day at $5.50 but jumping a $4.20 favourite. It held 33 percent more money than England.

Outside of the abovementioned horses, Danawi ($6.50-$4.60-$5.50) was tried throughout the morning but the support for him dried up as the race loomed.

BETS: River Bird $1,000 @ $10

BETS: England $3,000 e/w @ $5.50/$2, $1,000 e/w @ $5.50/$2

BETS: Ljungberg $1,000 @ $6, $1,000 @ $5.50

RACE FIVE

One of the best betting moves all day was on So You Win in the TAB.com.au Handicap (1800 metres).

The Chris Waller runner was crunched in betting from $4.40 in the morning to start $3 favourite, displacing Quackerjack at the top of the market as that horse blew from $2.30-$4.40.

Jason Collett produced the gelding at the right time to sweep to the front inside the 200m mark to score comfortably. White Boots ($12-$8) and Gresham ($17) filled second and third.

Quackerjack dropped out of it after leading. Of the others, Mister Belvedere had admirers after opening double figures on Wednesday.

BETS: So You Win $1,300 @ $3.10, $1,000 @ $3, $1,250 @ $2.90

RACE SIX

Sam Clipperton had to throw everything at Destiny’s Kiss in order for the pair to score the upset in the Winter Cup (2400 metres).

Going around as a $26 chance, the aging gelding still had some handy eachway investments riding on him but most of the cash was on Hush Writer and Yogi.

Destiny’s Kiss came with a big run out wide and got the bob down right on the line over Yogi ($5-$4.40-$5), which flashed home from the back of the pack. Mazaz ($41) split the pair in a tight go.

Hush Writer ($2.30-$2.50) faded slightly after finding the front early in the straight.

BETS: Hush Writer $4,000 @ $2.50

RACE SEVEN

Nicci’s Gold was just one of a number of movers in a highly competitive betting affair.

The Gary Portelli-trained runner was $9-$6.50 in the TAB Rewards Handicap (1500 metres) and arrived in time under Sam Clenton to beat Pumpkin Pie ($13-$7.50-$8.50) and Celtic Love ($51).

Sweet Victory, which jumped $4.20 favourite, was close up in fourth after racing on the inside lanes for most of the trip. The Mark Newnham runner was the most popular galloper in terms of money held, with Niccis Gold next best.

Of the others, there was a big move for Toryjoy which was $13 in the morning and subsequently crunched into $4.60 second pick.

BETS: Niccis Gold $500 e/w @ $6.50/$2.40

BETS: Pumpkin Pie $2,000 @ $8

RACE EIGHT

The best backed runner all day was Sylvia’s Mother but it was Albumin which caused a big upset in the Rosehill Bowling Club Handicap (1100 metres).

Albumin ($16-$12-$14) charged home under Jay Ford to beat Goldfinch ($71) and Tango Rain ($19).

Sylvia’s Mother ($1.80-$1.45) went around with 70 percent of the money on her back. She was 10 times as popular as anything else in the eighth event.

BETS: Sylvia’s Mother $2,670 @ $1.75, $1,500 @ $1.65, $4,795 @ $1.60, $8,000 @ $1.55, $4,000 @ $1.50

RACE NINE

Kapajack was the lone horse that started favourite in the morning to salute the judge today at Rosehill when he was successful in the Everest Carnival On Sale Handicap (1300 metres).

The Team Hawkes runner was a drifter from $1.75 out to as much as $2 before jumping at $1.95. While he didn’t hold as much as his stablemate in the previous race (Sylvia’s Mother), he was still responsible for 52 percent of the total investment.

Jockey Brock Ryan had the gelding just behind the leaders turning for home, before sticking to the inside as the field fanned. Racing clear, Kapajack went on for an easy win over Nicochet ($7-$5) and Destiny’s Own ($14) which ran on from the tail.

BETS: Kapajack $2,600 @ $1.95, $2,100 @ $1.95, $2,000 @ $1.95 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,000 @ $1.90, $4,000 @ $1.80

SANDOWN

RACE ONE

Punters had the right formula for the opening event at Sandown with the three most popular runners fighting out the finish.

Can’t Be Done ($5.50-$4.80) proved too strong over the concluding stages for the well-tried King Of Hastings ($3.80-$4.40), with Triton Rising ($3.80-$4) rattling home for third.

Triton Rising, which had been $8.50 on Wednesday, was easily the best supported with 30 percent of the market but Can’t Be Done and King Of Hastings were next best.

BETS: Can’t Be Done $2,000 @ $5, $1,000 @ $5

BETS: Triton Rising $5,000 @ $3.90 TWICE, $5,000 @ $3.80 TWICE

RACE TWO

Shrouded In Mist did have some support but was largely overshadowed by Silent Roar.

The Team Hawkes runner went around with 65 percent of the total investment but after leading, faded in the straight to eventually miss the place.

Shrouded In Mist ($5.50-$5-$6) finished powerfully for Craig Williams to get the money over Pria Eclipse ($11), which raced outside the leader, with Global Sanction ($4.60) rounding out the trifecta.

BETS: Shrouded In Mist $1,000 @ $5, $1,000 @ $4.80

BETS: Special Diva $2,000 @ $9.50

RACE THREE

Jungle Edge was the most notable firmer in the third event on the program from Sandown.

The eight-year-old was $3.90 in the morning and as much as $4.80 on Wednesday when market first opened, however, by the time the jump came around he had been backed into $3.20.

Jumping straight to the front for Michael Poy, the Mick Bell-trained gelding booted clear 400 metres out and held his rivals at bay to score the 16th win of his career.

Malibu Style ($3.70), which attracted good money, chased all the way in finishing second while the popular favourite William Thomas ($2.25-$2.80) ran on well for third after being well back throughout.

BETS: Jungle Edge $1,800 @ $3.80, $1,400 @ $3.20, $1,000 @ $3.20

BETS: Malibu Style $2,000 @ $3.70

BETS: William Thomas $5,000 @ $2.80

RACE FOUR

The heavily tried Beerz With Clint let his backers down in the fourth event on the card.

Beerz With Clint held nearly three times as much money as anything else in the race and jumped an equal $4.20 favourite after being $5.50 earlier in the week.

Given a great trip by Damien Oliver fourth in the run, the gelding didn’t let down when asked and finished towards the rear.

Morrissy, equal $4.20 top elect with Beerz With Clint, sat behind the leader Ben Hercules for Craig Williams and was presented at the top of the straight to issue his challenge.

Finishing best, the Leon & Troy Corstens runner overpowered the mover More Than Exceed ($14-$9) after it sat outside the speed. Akkadian ($10) grabbed the minor end of the prize.

BETS: Morrissy $1,000 @ $4.20

BETS: Beerz With Clint $3,500 e/w @ $4.20/$1.80, $4,000 @ $4, $1,600 @ $4, $1,000 @ $4

RACE FIVE

N/A

RACE SIX

Tysonic was one of the better backed runners in the race but was still a drifter in the sixth event.

The Chris Waller-trained runner was $4.80-$6 on the day and although having the second most money riding on him, was overshadowed by the likes of Dogmatic and Green Ivy.

Dogmatic ($2.50-$3.30-$3.10) was an easing favourite but still held the most money but there was a strong move for Green Ivy ($9-$4.60) throughout the afternoon.

Michael Dee timed his run perfectly on the filly as she powered over the top of El Vincitore ($41) and Dogmatic at the finish.

BETS: Tysonic $1,000 @ $6

BETS: Dogmatic $2,000 @ $3.30, $2,000 @ $3.10 TWICE

BETS: Green Ivy $2,000 @ $4.60, $1,000 @ $4.60

RACE SEVEN

Street Sheik was popular all week and di the right thing by its backers in this race.

Opening at $4.80 on Wednesday, the Patrick Payne galloper was $4.20-$3.50 today and held more than three times the amount of money than the next best supported runner. That horse was Ballet Master ($8-$4) which halved its quote from the morning.

Damien Oliver had to get everything out of Street Sheik to fight off the rank outsider Travimyfriend ($201), with Ballet Master flashing home to grab third.

BETS: Street Sheik $4,000 @ $3.80, $1,000 @ $3.80 MULTIPLE TIMES, $1,000 @ $3.70 MULTIPLE TIMES, $2,260 @ $3.50, $1,000 @ $3.50 MULTIPLE TIMES

BETS: Ballet Master $5,000 e/w @ $4.20/$1.80, $1,500 x $2,000 e/w @ $4.20/$1.75

RACE EIGHT

Mr Marathon Man ($8-$11) arrived in the nick of time to upset the favourite in the eighth event.

Damien Oliver timed his run to perfection on the Mike Moroney runners, which produced a whirlwind finish from back in the pack to knock off Waging War ($3.70-$3.20), which had the race shot to pieces until the final few strides.

The Statesman ($26) wound up third in front of the leader Odeon ($6.50) which had its share of admirers once again.

RACE NINE

Damien Oliver made it the final three races on the card when he saluted on the heavily backed Buffalo River.

The gelding was $2.50 in the morning and crunched into $1.90 at the jump, going around with nearly double the amount of money than any other runner.

Giving Mike Moroney the final two winners on the card, Buffalo River charged away to beat Asgard Massif ($3.70-$3.50) and Our Campana ($9) while Gennady, which attracted plenty of money during the week and today, was in fourth.

BETS: Buffalo River $2,000 @ $1.90 TWICE
