Runaway cemented his Melbourne Cup claims with his Geelong Cup win and Sportsbet firmed his price from $301 into $41 to win the great race.
Runaway will attempt to emulate Dunaden (2011), who was the last Geelong Cup winner to win at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November.
Yucatan ($5.00) remains favourite for the Cup ahead of Magic Circle ($10). Caulfield Cup winner Best Solution ($13) is next along with Avilius ($13), who tackles Winx in Saturday’s Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
“Runaway claimed his hometown cup and will now be looking to the big one. He adds another hope for an Australian runner to beat the Internationals and claim the Melbourne Cup 2018” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ella Zampatti.
