1. TANTRA
Despite not being able to record a win last prep from five starts, the Darley represent far from disgraced himself in some of the leading 2yo old races. Among his best performances to date include a fourth in the VRC Sire’s Produce (G3, 1400m) to All Too Hard and third (beaten 5.1 lengths) to Pierro in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m). Has been readied for his return with a solid barrier trial on the 13 August.
Odds: $13.00
2. TOYDINI
The Guy Walter representative made is debut in a Hawkesbury Maiden in March and progressed well enough for his trainer to take him to Queensland for a dip at 2yo Group Races (Sire’s and TJ Smith) where he finished fourth in both beaten 3.5 and 2.5 lengths respectively.Hasn’t raced sine the TJ and not seen at any official trials. Expected to get back to the wide draw should be of little concern.
Odds: $13.00

3. URQUIDEZ
Was very impressive winning in Open Company here two starts back and then competed in the Listed Rosebud stakes a fortnight ago, running second to the ultra impressive She’s A Fox (beaten 3.3 lengths)Should be able to take advantage from the inside draw and settle just off the speed.
Odds: $10.00
4. ALBRECHT
Second of the Darley runners who, despite drawing the outside, has come up second favourite ($5.00) in early betting. He lived up to his Trianer’s expectations on debut, when recording a comfortably 1 ¾ length win at Canterbury on a Heavy track. His next start and most recent, was a third in a BM75 (beaten near on 3 lengths) when 13/4. Draw and last start makes the $5.00 look a bit skinny for mine.
Odds: $5.00
5. NEDIYM’S QUEST
Was well supported (11/2) when making his debut in the Group 2 Silver Slipper back in March but was easily accounted for on the Heavy track by Pierro, finished a well beaten 8th and immediately spelled. He returned a little over a fortnight ago and was well supported again (5/4) win narrowly winning a Maiden at Newcastle.
Odds: $7.50

6. CALAMBA
Broke his maiden status at his most recent start when coming from off the pace to record Restriced Class win at Randwick in May. Has ran third in a barrier trail on preparation for his return her and from the good draw, expect to race a bit handier than he has at his most recent starts.
Odds: $13.00
7. STRENGHT
Form his four starts to date, he has registered one third placing, that being in the Group 3 The Schweppes (1400m). This was clearly the best run of his career to date and at each start he has started at big prices. Fancy he’ll be the same again on Saturday.
Odds: $34.00
8. SUMARAND
The well bred son of More Than Ready certainly made an impression when winning by five on debut at Hawesbury a little over a fortnight ago. No surprise to see his trainer – Gai Waterhouse, now bring to town for a crack at a Group Race. Expect he’ll lead them away and will give them something to catch.
Odds: $2.10
9. TROPHIES
Had the one placing from 7 career starts to date and that was a second in the Listed Fernhill Quality over 1600m on a Heavy. Hasn’t raced since finishing well down the track in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes @ 150/1. Has been readied for this with two barrier trials.
Odds: $34.00

10. MAXIMILLAN
Ran second on debut behind Nediym’s Quest in a Newcastle Maiden. The son of Holy Roman Emperor is trained by Bart Cummings and would expect that he’ll be better for his initial hit-out but may very well need longer again.
Odds: $34.00
OVERVIEW
Sumarand will lead the way and with a number of these runners returning from a spell and using this race as a starting point for longer trips, he may will be able to dictate things in front – certainly has the Jockey to do so. Hot on his tail in the run will be Tantra and Urquidez from their good draws. Tantra is first up but did put in a solid showing in a recent barrier trial whilst Urquidez is fit and may have ran into a very special filly last start in She’s A Fox. Can see him getting a good run and the last shot at the leader and at a eachway odds in early markets, might give it a good shake.
