The feature of the day is over a mile and sees a field of ten with early favourite Jet Style ($2.80) looking it to make it back to back features after having secured the Brisbane Quality (1600m).

Tattersall’s Recognition Stakes Form Guide
1. PEPPERWOOD – L Cassidy (1)
Eight year old trained by Liam Birchley who has had two starts back this preparation, including a fourth at his most recent start (beaten 3.5) behind Jet Style a in the Brisbane Quality a fortnight back. Was doing his best work last there and meets Jet Style 2kg better at the weights. Competitive in similar races during the winter and gets good run from inside draw.
Odds: $10.00
2. BIGGLES – T Bell (6)
Led all the way two starts back to record a 1 ½ length win over Jet Style and started favourite in the Brisbane Quality (5/2) but was no match for Jet Style over the concluding stages and finished second, beaten two lengths. All of his five wins have come on Good tracks and could easily bounce back given the the better track conditions predicted for this weekend.
Odds: $4.20
3. JET STYLE – C Munce (10)
Donald Baker trained galloper from Toowoomba who has been a model of consistency and was justly rewarded last start with victory in the Brisbane Quality. He was aided by a gem of a ride from Munce who may have to produce something similar given that he has drawn the widest gate.
Odds: $2.60
4. RUNGLE – D Browne (3)
A stayer by Galileo who is lining up for this race first up. Ran into some unfavourable wet tracks during a short Winter preparation earlier this year and will be using this as a tune up for something longer.
Odds: $51.00
5. MR LIGHT BLUE – J Byrne (5)
Barry Baldwin trained galloper who has had two runs back this preparation including a third at his last start behind Jet Style. He sat on the leaders back there and being second-up, on a Slow track, might’ve just needed a little longer than normal to wind up. He’ll be close to peak fitness now and a better track should also be in his favour.
Odds: $7.00
6. FIFTEEN CARAT – J Taylor (9)
Ironically, this bloke’s last win was in the 2010 edition of this race. He’s had twenty three runs since trying to make it win number five but his best effort came in the 2011 Listed Premier’s Cup when second at 50/1. Can’t see him winning this.
Odds: $51.00
7. SHEZAHOTSHOT – G Cooksley (7)
6yo mare who won one of her seven starts last prep, that being a Class 6 over a mile defeating Ausworld. Returned to racing a fortnight back and held her ground to finish seventh of nine (beaten 4.8) behind Jet Style. Obviously will be fitter for that run under her belt but is also eligible for easier races than this.
Odds: $21.00
8. EQUISSENTIAL – P Hammersley (4)
Closed well at his most recent start, three weeks back behind Jet Style (beaten 1.5 lengths) over 1400m on a Heavy track. On that run only he may be considered a chance but the bigger picture reveals that he has only won three of forty starts.
Odds: $17.00
9. TRIPLE SIX – P Robl (2)
A Sydney visitor from David Pfieffer’s stable who finished 1.2 lengths behind Rose Pattern in a BM 80 race at Rosehill a fortnight back. That followed a good effort first up behind Bound To Blush and would expect that a mile, third-up would be ideal. She tackled the G2 Emancipation Stakes (1600m) third up last prep and finished 3.8 lengths behind Skyerush.
Odds: $6.00
10. ROCKSAN – (8)
Only the two wins from sixteen starts to her name but has ran second in the Listed Princess Stakes (1600m) behind Hidden Jewel and was only 2 ½ lengths behind Invest in the G3 The Roses. She’s had two runs a back this prep and her last was a sixth of sixteen (beaten 2 ¾) behind Purfectress after having settled at the tail of the field. She’ll get back and need the pace on but look for her late and at $15.00, might be worth throwing into a multiple.
Odds: $17.00
SUMMARY
At the $2.80, looking past Jet Style who had everything made to order last start and may need some luck this weekend from the wide gate. Opting for Triple Six – and a big day for David Pfieffer and Peter Robl, here who should appreciate the distance and whose two efforts this time in, indicate she’s ripe for this. Mr Light Blue is good eachway value at $7.00 and a better track, the step up in distance and being third up – are all positives.
