Punters have opened their wallets and stepped into the favourite in today’s Group One Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.
Last years Underwood Stales winner and Caulfield Cup runner up Homesman opened at $2.70 in betting for this years edition of the race and punters have been keen to take almost any odds for the horse to go back to back seeing his quote turn into his current price of $2.25.
Homesman returned in the Feehan Stakes after a lengthy break and he was far too good for his rivals winning by a margin and booking a spot in the 2019 Cox Plate and the money suggests the horse will be far too good again today.
Hartnell opened as second favourite in the market but has been unwanted and is $4.20 out to $4.80 with the only horse to really attract any support outside of the favourite has been WA raider Gatting who is $6.00 into $5.00 after landing a massive scalp last time out beating Mystic Journey in the Makybe Diva Stakes at massive odds.
