He hasn’t done much for a while, but punters think Cantbuybetter could sharply improve when she lines up in the Brisbane Handicap (1600m) this Saturday at Doomben.
The Ben Currie trained gelding resumed in the Recognition a fortnight back and wasn’t too bad from the back in the race, won by the above average Niccanova. Up to the mile second up looks ideal and Jeff Lloyd is booked. $21 was the opening price and several decent each way bets have seen his price trickle down to $14.
The best backed in the race has clearly been Sold For Song, who hasn’t won since June 25 2016 but her effort in the Recognition was an absolute beauty. She’s at $5 and has been crunched after opening $8.50.
Prioritise is the $3 favourite but with support for others has eased from $2.70.
