Moonee Valley Race Eight Number 11 Letmedowngently ($13):
Naracoorte based mare who ran an absolute beauty when resuming at Flemington, attempting to lead all the way before looking gone at the top of the straight. She somehow picked herself up and kicked on very strongly to finish second to Niminypiminy. Opened $14 here and did firm to as low as $12, but is now at $13. I still think that is great value, because she is a winner in her lone run at the Valley, down in the weights, and this field is questionable in terms of depth.
Randwick Race Two Number 8 Maastricht ($17):
Classy mare for Team Hawkes who didn’t really produce her absolute best in the Autumn after creating a big impression during the Spring last year. Resumes here, and she is a first up winner, plus has looked sharp in a couple of jump outs. On her best form, she’d go very close to beating these, and she seems crazy odds of $17.
Doomben Race Five Number 10 Balmoral Baby ($26):
Really surprised to see that he is $26, because she really should be much shorter given her effort last time out when working home strongly to finish fifth to impressive winner Satirical Lass, and the form out of that race has held up. Up to the mile suits, Hammersley sticks and the speed should be solid for her to allow her to run on.
Morphettville Parks Race One Number 6 Up The Creek ($12):
Can’t believe that this horse is at $12. It really looks a race where most runners have either reached their peak, are out of form or are looking for the paddock, whereas Up The Creek is only third up here. He ran a couple of weeks back at Sandown and worked home well late when a three length ninth to Kelkea, who did run poorly here last weekend, but Tilla Bell Rings, the second place getter, did win at Caulfield. He’ll be suited by the rise to trip and he should near peak fitness.
