Orange Cup 2025 – Field, Odds, Horses, Tips, Betting and Runner Preview

Country Cup racing continues on Friday, with the Orange Cup (2100m) attracting a solid field.

Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Orange Cup.

2025 Orange Cup Runner Preview:

1. Aimpoint: Dominant win in the Wellington Cup last time from the front but it was 1700m and now he has to lump 62.5kg. Genuine horse, lands in a good spot…just can’t entertain him with the weight.

2. Rematch: Very sharp rise to 2100m after racing in a CC Wildcard at Scone over 1400m when not 100% happy on the bog behind Know Thyself. The rise in trip I find interesting but ability wise, I think he’s the best horse in the race. Commands respect.

3. Campaldino: He looks the best set up of these given he’s third up and last start he was on speed over 1800m on the Kenso, giving a strong kick but just felt the pinch late. He’ll get the lead here and take running down.

4. Steel Blaze: Has that sense of timing and wasn’t bad in defeat at Warwick Farm over the mile last start. He’ll be strong late and is a knockout hope.

5. Fun Sunday: Outclassed in the Epona behind Mare Of Mt Buller. This looks more to her liking and 2100m should be fine. Key chance.

6. Victory Roll: He wasn’t too bad in defeat last time in the Wellington Cup after getting back. If he is ridden with more intent, he’s dangerous at odds.

7. Tajawal: Spanked them at Taree two back before going to Tamworth when near the speed and fought on well behind Our Bambino. Gets in well at the weights, good racing style, in form…he’s a threat for sure.

8. Binkou: He is a knockout hope. He ran over 2000m at Hawkesbury where he got back to near last in the run but was very good late when third. Maps to stalk the speed, do no work and be effective late.

9. Don Stefano: This is the each way speck for me. He ran last Saturday in the CC Final and just found 1400m too sharp. He is a stayer that will be strong late and is drawn out, which is usually ideal this time of day. Great bet for me at the price.

10. Magnace: Toughest test in recent times but he is flying and does save his best for Orange. 2200m to 1600m when a last start winner and now back up in trip, I wouldn’t pen him.

11. Rico Suave: He got back off the speed behind Magnace in the race mentioned above and was okay late without threatening. Can’t have him here.

12. Helluva Soiree: Bit of dominance about his win at Wagga last time albeit in a weaker race than this. Can’t entertain as a threat.

13. D’Oro Choice: He spanked them in a weak 2400m race at Wellington last start. Trip is no issue though and he does have a liking for Orange. One for exotics.

14. Marenaro: No jockey booked tells me he’s not running but even if he does, he’s not measuring up.

15. Tropic Sands (First Emergency): Not going well enough.

16. Flying Argento (Second Emergency): He’d be clearly on top if they run here, but backing up from the Derby in under a week…I doubt they’re running here.

17. Ya Love Her (Third Emergency): Plain behind D’Oro Choice…deserved rank outsider.

Campaldino does look the leader for GaiBott and hard fit, he’ll roll along I dare say. Aimpoint won’t be too far away from the good draw, likewise Tajawal, a dominant winner two back. Rematch should hold a forward spot from gate one.
