1600m track record holder Lubiton will this weekend step out in the Group 3 Godolphin Crown over 1300m at Hawkesbury, the Bjorn Baker trained mare paying as much as $12 with Sportsbet.com.au.
It is positive signs for the 4-year-old, she will step up in distance after a fast-run Sapphire Stakes over 1200, getting out to 1300 with a handy second-up record. Far from easy however, Lubiton has drawn barrier 12, yet to win at the track or distance.
Since her record-breaking run over the mile, the Group 3 winner is yet to be placed, in fact finishing 6th and 5th in her latest 2 runs. Regardless of her most recent performances however, the Snitzel mare boasts and impressive record of 5 wins from 19 starts, placing in 11 and finding herself in the money more often then not.
At almost $4.00 to place, Lubiton will be looking to go one better and fill the minors second up with the experienced Blake Shinn to steer. She will have to overcome a strong challenge from favorite Sedanzer and the well fancied Invincibella and White Moss however boasts an obvious time advantage and barring a wide draw will be hard to keep up with.
