Tom Waterhouse has backed The Chosen One to win $1million

Ex bookmaker Tom Waterhouse has placed the biggest 2019 Melbourne Cup winning return bet at today’s Call Of The Card with the bet on a long odds shot set to return $1million dollars.

Tom Waterhouse has backed outsider The Chosen One to win $1,000,000 with the horse now into $67 with Sportsbet after opening at $101 on Saturday night following the announcement of the final field.

The Chosen One ran in Saturday’s Hotham Handicap where he finished a relatively disappointing fifth behind fellow Melbourne Cup contender Downdraft although the horses trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman will opt to run the horse without blinkers on Tuesday hoping the change of gear will see a better effort.

The Chosen One was an impressive winner of the Herbert Power Stakes at Caulfield before a luckless run in the Caulfield Cup where he started in the betting at $13.

The Call Of The Card saw a massive swing in the 2019 Melbourne Cup market with Finche the new favourite for the race displacing Mer De Glace after multiple big bets where placed on the Chris Waller trained galloper.

International Il Paradiso was another horse punters wanted to back at the Call Of The Card which has seen him firm from $18 into $13.
