A strong field has been assembled for the Mackay Cup (2000m) this Saturday where the depth looks pretty solid.

2025 Mackay Cup Runner Preview:
1. Hype: Won the race last year and looks on track to repeat the dose. Real eye catcher in the Rocky Cup and was a few weeks between runs, so he has good room for improvement and gets Wiggins sticking.
2. Logan Street Lion: He won the Rocky Cup last time, aided by a peach ride/run in transit. Tricky gate this time around and I do think 2000m is a genuine query with him. He can win, but win without me.
3. Alcyone: Didn’t fire a shot in the Cup Prelude so I can’t have him here.
4. Andalus: Wide throughout at Townsville last start so a total forgive but not sure how well he’s going.
5. Kipling’s Journey: Was near the speed in the Rocky Cup and battled away well enough in defeat. Suited up in trip and if he gets front end control, he’s dangerous.
6. Aimpoint: He attempted to lead throughout in the Cup Prelude last start and battled away really well in defeat when third. Hard fit now, good racing style, he can threaten.
7. Caffrey: Brought Non TAB form into the Cup Prelude but was a real eye catcher late the way he finished his race off when second. Off that effort, he has to be respected.
8. Quothquan: Bombed the start in the Rocky Cup and that cost him in the end. He’s flying…just finding it hard to win.
9. Outback Action: I doubt he runs given last start was 1200m.
10. Sir Grace: He was plain in the Cup Prelude. Not for me.
11. Fortified: Didn’t mind his effort in the Cup Prelude when back and making up ground. Sneaky first four prospect.
12. Archer’s Game: Run of the race stuff got him home in the Cup Prelude and now drawn the carpark…his task is tough.
13. Acclimatise (First Emergency): SCR
14. The Driller (Second Emergency): SCR
15. Our Turn Now (Third Emergency): SCR

Kipling’s Journey and Aimpoint look the main two speed influences. I suspect Kipling’s Journey looks the leader and holds the front. Logan Street Lion is drawn tricky and may push forward to offset the barrier.
