Eckstein has been heavily backed at long odds in Saturday's Matriarch Stakes
A really good bunch of mares will take their place in the Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on Saturday and punters are rallying around one of the class mares.
That is Eckstein, who ran in the Empire Rose last Saturday and didn’t have much luck in the straight behind Shillelagh. 2000m is the query, but does have class on her side. $15 seemed a tad long in the market and that was taken, now into $12.
Temple Of Bel, who was outstanding in the Empire Rose, producing great late splits, is the favourite at $5.50 and is solid, holding the call over Savvy Coup and Sheezdashing at $7.50.
