Rosehill- Monday, August 17, Weather Fine, Track Good 4.
Heat One- Bounding (1st):
Clearly the best of the morning and there is a Group l race in her this prep. She sat behind the speed here before getting the split at the top of the straight and showing an electric turn of foot under no pressure to win the trial comfortably. She has come on big time since joining Team Snowden, and her, along with Hartnell, are the two horses I am keen on this Spring.
Heat Four- Ballet Suite (7th):
Group l performer who comes back as a four year old mare, and to begin with, it didn’t look great given she missed the start by several lengths in this trial, but she picked up nicely in quick fashion, then worked home well near the inside late under minimal pressure. Interesting to see where she gets to this time in.
Heat Five- Perignon (2nd):
One of the better performed youngsters from last season who ran second in the Magic Night, and she looks to have come back in excellent order based on this trial. She jumped well to lead and was under a big hold from Bowman throughout and though grabbed on the line, she did it very easily and looked very impressive.
Heat Seven- Colour Drop (1st):
In terms of the maidens, this was the pick. Team Hawkes mare who was having her first public appearance here and she looked pretty sharp. She showed good toe to lead the trial comfortably before being clicked up by Tommy Berry in the straight and the daughter of Lonhro responded well, and though the margin was narrow, she looked slick.
Heat Nine- Zara Bay (1st):
Smart filly for Team Hawkes who looks to be in for a good Spring based on this trial win. She sat behind the speed before getting the split at the top of the straight and showing a sharp turn of foot to put the field away in a couple of strides and scoring a dominant win under little pressure from Tommy Berry.
