1. Rivellino: I think the talent is there and loved the way he moved in a recent trial at Wyong. If they overdo it, he can launch late.
2. Napoleonic: Napoleonic is a good colt for O’Shea/Charlton that resumes. He was last seen on Cox Plate when a very impressive winner of the Red Anchor, ending the prep on a high. Looks to have trialled up very well and will be strong at the end of 1200m, so watch betting.
3. Tempted: Great to see star filly Tempted back at the races. It is clear that it is chips in for the Surround and this will be the kick off point. Moved very well in a recent trial here and with class on her side, she’s going to take a power of beating.
4. Memo: Was keen on her in the MM Guineas, thought she had her chance but was just fair late. Has race fitness, but I’ve had enough of her.
5. Wodeton: Not sure if it’s Uncle Chris or Coolmore that made the call to head to the Newmarket with him. But, if he’s going to be a contender there, he has to be winning or going very close here. So there has to be intent here. Watch betting.
6. Ruination: Really like him as a horse but think he is a level below these.
7. Dusty Bay: Dusty Bay…why he’s running here, not sure, because I doubt he wins, but I think he’s a first four contender and would be ideally suited in the Provincial Championships. He trialled up like a rocket last week and will run well, but do think lowering the eye sight would be ideal for this guy.
8. Watson: If he gets left alone, he’s dangerous, especially if the track if up/in. He’ll run boldly.
